The Making & Gifting of “Wolf Moon”
It’s rare that I get a vision for a completed painting before I start – it usual evolves intuitively one inspired layer at a time.
But as soon as I finished “Spirit of saint Patrick“, “Wolf Moon” appeared in my mind’s eye.
My joy at rediscovering the fun of working with Golden’s Clear Tar Gel definitely had something to do with it. I used it here for the edge designs and for the moon, which took overnight to dry clear. Notice how the coloured swirls in the moon itself seem to emanate from the wolf’s call.
Clear Tar Gel was developed by Golden Paints for the Pollock Movie (2000) to imitate the string like quality that Jackson Pollock achieved with enamel house paint.
My techniques seen in “The Making of Wolf Moon” video above (3:44-minutes) are much less wild than his … but just as fun for me!
I’m thrilled I listened to the call to bring this howling full moon wolf to light. It was purchased as a gift minutes after I posted this video on Facebook – bringing joy to at least 3: the artist, gift-giver & receiver! May watching it evolve be a blessing in your day too.
What is calling you this Spring? Make the call. Answer the call….
If you truly enjoy working with a medium, spending time with a particular person, doing a hobby or learning a new skill – make sure to schedule it in your week. It’s those moments of joy that raise our vibration and do so much good on so many levels.
Embrace the mystery as life unfolds before you, one inspired Spirit Call at a time.
I was thrilled and surprised when my patron Judy (read her story here) messaged me on Facebook soon after I posted a photo of this painting to say she wanted to buy it as a gift.
She didn’t tell me who it was for, and I didn’t ask.
Her last purchase from the same collection had been a gift for her daughter Janelle.
Although Judy was on the island, a series of events led to her niece Lesley coming to pick it up weeks later, at the same time as her own purchase. I’ll introduce you to that one in next week’s blog post.
Lesley kindly agreed to share her story here, knowing it may add to this painting’s inspirational experience for you.
Then plans changed, and I ended up coming to pick them up. When I was holding both bags, something resonated from the smaller one. Something told me it was for me.
