Soul Mate Series: Betwixt Day & Night
“Betwixt Day & Night” honours the immortality of the Divine Love between soul mates and twin flames as well as the soul’s journey back to its rightful place.
It emerged from following my bliss into inspired action.
After having so much fun painting the sun in “From the Beginning“, I wanted to create a piece that featured both the sun and moon.
In true intuitive painting style, I started by painting these two celestial orbs, not knowing what would come next. Instead, I spent time contemplating its evolution, asking what wanted to emerge.
It was while swimming laps in a local pool under a summer sky that the vision of the two faces appeared in my mind’s eye, perfectly shaped to fit the grooves on each side of the canvas.
The more I painted, the more the energies flowed and the more the painting spoke to me.
That’s when I knew this was the birthing of a new series – the Soul Mate Series – 3 paintings I’ll write more about in the following weeks.
This is the first.
Betwixt Day & Night: The Painting
I’m so excited to share “Betwixt Day & Night With You”. The name was given to me before I knew where this painting was going.
There’s so much soul mate energy & symbolism here.
The moon rays in white mica and sun rays in gold mica form a diamond shape in the middle that’s much more visible in direct light. Metaphysically speaking, the mineral mica supports the energy of love and compassion, essential for the success of any relationship.
According to the SunSigns website,
“The diamond shape is associated with valuable attributes that are relevant to living a meaningful life – such as purity, clarity and wisdom. It enables us to see our purpose in a new light….The Native Americans considered diamonds to be signatures of the butterfly, which Indian cultures identify as a sign of immortality. Native American ideology viewed this as very powerful and symbolic. Specifically, the butterfly’s journey back to their homes was interpreted symbolically as the soul’s journey to its rightful place.”
These rays also form the points of 2 pyramids or triangles facing opposite directions, extensions of the energetic light space of the man and woman. These light spaces, moon blue for the woman and sun orange for the man, are like arrows moving them towards each other.
This momentum comes from a space beyond day & night, beyond time, beyond space. It’s a soul calling, a soul contract, an agreement made while still in Spirit form that is moving this couple back together again.
Their faces, covered in glass beads that are only perceptible from some angles, are of the same ilk as the Universe behind them. It’s as if they were a materialization of All That Is – individualized expressions of the Divine.
The amethyst that rests in the space betwixt day & night is the intuitive eye that helps them recognize and trust each other. It’s a protective stone associated with the crown chakra that is here to facilitate open communication, bonding, and the purification of the mind. It’s also here to assist with the evolution of unconditional love between a couple on a daily and nightly basis.
It’s only after I finished the painting that I spotted the shape of the hourglass – symbolic of balance in alchemy, Heaven & Earth, cycles, and inevitability,
Betwixt Day & Night is not only a celebration of soul mate reunion & love but also a celebration of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine as they come together in the hourglass of enlightenment and ultimate truth.
The Soul Mate Series
As soon as I was finished this painting at the end of July, I knew I wasn’t truly finished.
In the following month, the moon & sun danced together some more in the Soul Mate Series – 3 paintings in total.

Dominique, your painting of love, trust, compassion and gems ???? of wisdom stir my soul. As I gaze upon the beauty of your paintings, and learn of the tedious but rewarding fruition of the process that leds to the essence of All There Is. I love ❤️ our unique painting; the ???? is glorious-the individual layers of my life juxtaposed against such sacred, poetic language. I consider it my new-found “prayer.
How beautifully felt & expressed, Elizabeth! Thank you!
