Joined – a painting on auction

Do you recognize this painting?

It inspired the”Co-Creating from a United Light” guided meditation and blog post I sent out September 24th.

With IceberGallery’s week of events & online auction starting this Sunday, it’s time to tell you more about it all.

IceberGallery is an artist-run non profit organization focused on providing entrepreneurial, educational, and collaborative opportunities to visual artists within Newfoundland & Labrador.

I enjoy supporting this organization. Not only have I benefitted from some of their offerings in recent years, but I would have loved to be a part of such a group decades ago, when I was starting to sell my work.

So when their call went out to create an 11″ x 14″ painting based on the theme of Convergence for their fundraiser auction, I said “Yes!”.

Proceeds from the online auction will be split between the artist (60%) and IceberGallery (40%). All funds raised for the organization will go towards IceberGallery’s many free programming initiatives. If you’d like to join IceberGallery for free, sign-up here.

Make sure to also sign-up to their Facebook Page or Instagram for updates and registration links to all their events next week. I’ll also be including a link to the November 10th-December 1st auction in my next newsletter, so make sure you’re signed-up.

Joined – my painting on auction

When I read that the theme of the auction was Convergence, I was inspired to create yet another painting featuring the Vesica Piscis, my favourite sacred geometry shape.

Convergence is when two or more things come together to form a new whole.

In the Vesica Pisces , the joining of two overlapping circles with the same radius creates a central sacred space.

This shape has been used since ancient times in various cultures and spiritual traditions. It’s the basis for the Flower of Life, the fish symbol of Jesus Christ, the yoni, etc.

In sacred geometry, the Vesica Piscis is viewed as a powerful representation of creation and the union of opposites. It is believed to symbolize the intersection of the spiritual and material realms, embodying the birth of the universe from the void. This shape is also seen as a gateway of creation, indicative of divine proportion and balance. The Vesica Piscis encapsulates themes of duality and harmony, making it a profound symbol for the interconnectedness and the continuous cycle of life and existence. (source)

As is usual in the intuitive painting process, the imagery evolved layer by layer.

Messages of “As Above So Below” appeared with the inclusion of the mirroring lotus flowers.

These flower have their roots far below the water surface in the mud. Their waxy petals are cleaned by the push towards the light.

As I painted, I reflected on how our intention and efforts to create from this joined place was indeed a push towards living in the Light.

I also felt like the joining of the spirit and physical realms could not be contained within the borders of the circles. The power is rooted beyond time and space, just as the lotus is rooted far below where this beauty emerges.

Including the lotus flowers also added the symbolism of purity, devotion, rebirth, spiritual awakening to the mix.

And at the centre of it all – the tree of life painted on blue glass with both its branches and roots rich with fruit.

There are so many other layers of symbolism and energy in this glass-bead covered piece. The beads themselves, applied over iridescent paint, plays with the light in amazing ways. This is an extra reminder of the magic of living from this sacred joined place of the spiritual and physical realms.
