Rainy Day Friends

We set a rainfall record here in Newfoundland last month. It was the wettest November in history.

It rained, it poured, and heading out for much needed nature time took a bit more willingness than usual.

But with the proper gear and willing friends, being out in the Elements was still fun and creative.

I didn’t set out to create this video … it just happened, inspired by the moment and environment.

As we come towards the end of 2024, I look back upon my year and am grateful for my friends who walk by my side, rain or shine – literally and figuratively.

Leslie Bridger, my cooperative playmate in the video above, is one such friend.

We’re both soulpreneurs & photographers, and so we weave in and out of conversation, awe-inspiring communion with nature, and photo-fun time.

Mastermind Walk & Talks

Years ago in some online workshop we took together, Leslie and I learned a mastermind sharing formula that has served us well.

I share it with you here in case it inspires you and a buddy to try it out – either on regular walk & talks or even by zoom.

Every time we go for a walk, we in turn share the following while the other simply listens:

  1. Successes: we list all that we consider successes since the last time we met – in all areas of our lives. Then we high-five to celebrate!
  2. Challenges: we share what weighs heavily on us, seeking the blessings, lessons, and love that can grow out of them. We focus on our role and growth in the situations and avoid blaming and complaining.
  3. Need for support: we ask our friend or the Universe what we need support with – sometimes just being able to identify and voice it opens opportunities.
  4. Accountability: As accountability buddies, we ask for a follow-up and encouragement throughout the week to help us move forward with our intentions and goals. We also report on how we did on our next walk & talk.

Our walks take at least an hour – enough time for our mastermind formula, silent contemplation, a bit of photo fun, and regular conversation.

This is something Leslie and I do together. Other friendships have a different flavour. I’m grateful for them all.

May your life be blessed with rainy day friends who walk by your side no matter the weather.

What can you do to find and nurture such friendships?

How can you be a rainy day friend to someone this week?

May the Universe answer your calls for support.

Did you find this inspiring? Please share it.
