Description
Created during a 22-hour painting marathon on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, “For the Children” was co-created as a prayer to open and hold the space for a 5-week ArtsSmarts program I was starting to teach that Tuesday for 5-week in Beachy Cove Elementary School. I was going from years of being in a happy-hermit space to leading 535 children for 3 sessions each to create multi-layered intuitive paintings representing Newfoundland & Labrador expressions. Based on a vision of a circle of children sitting under a rainbow and brought back to mind seeing a giant rainbow heading into the weekend, this painting is now an energetic and visual reminder of my purpose to open the door to creative inspiration and to stay in my peace doing it.
